NETTLETON - Jessie Coggin Black, 86, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, at Cedars Health Center in Tupelo. She was born June 5, 1918, in Nettleton to the late Andy Davis Coggin Sr. and Eunice Morgan Coggin. She graduated from the Nettleton Public School System, Wood Junior College and Mississippi State University. She was a longtime educator and taught school at Nettleton High School for 41 years. She was a lifelong member of Shiloh Methodist Church of Nettleton and held numerous positions in the church.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Danny Dabbs and the Rev. Wally Cason officiating. Burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park.

Survivors include a granddaughter, Christina Black Dorough of Tupelo; a brother, Andy David Coggin Jr. and wife, Bobby Jean, of Nettleton; two nephews, Nickey D. Coggin of Nettleton and Dale Melton of Memphis; a niece, Mary Donna Melton Jeter of Eldersburg, Md.; two ssters-in-law, Christine Black Knight of Hernando, and Catherine Black Melton and husband, Don, of Memphis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Black Sr., on Feb. 3, 1984; and a son, Lewis Black, on Oct. 4, 1997.

Pallbearers will be Larry Green, Clinton McCormick, Tommy Dabbs, John Weaver, Jimmy Rea, and Lamar Pettigrew.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to service time Saturday.
