Eugene was born on April 4, 1926, in the Town of Mishicot, son of the late Ervin and Libbie (Zimmerhakel) Eslinger. He served in the United States Army during the World War II and the Korean War until his discharge in 1953. On December 28, 1957 he married the former Lorina K. Horstman at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church. She preceded Eugene in death on May 25, 1999. He was a member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church and a life member of the VFW Post #7753 of Mishicot.
Survivors include his 3 children: Kathy (Steven) Krahn, Brillion; William (Cheryl) Eslinger, North Saint Paul, MN; Elizabeth (Darrell) Durig, Chillicothe, IL; 9 grandchildren: Matthew (Lindsey) Krahn, Brillion; Thomas (Stephanie) Krahn, De Pere; Peter (Kristin) Krahn, Oshkosh; Patience (Steven) McCord, Fond du Lac; Constance Krahn and special friend Jeff Hunholz, St. Francis; Philip Krahn, Madison; Hannah Eslinger, John Eslinger, North Saint Paul, MN; and Rebekah Durig, Chillicothe, IL. 7 great grandchildren: Noah, Blake, Carter, Bentley, Landon, Ava and Anika. One sister and brother-in-law: Irene (Delmar) Horstman, Manitowoc; one sister-in-law: Marlene Eslinger, Mishicot, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters-in-law: Leonard (Dorothy) Reindl, Ervin Eslinger Jr., Lester (Jeanette) Eslinger, Edward (Carol) Eslinger, Raymond Eslinger, and one sister: Jeanette Eslinger.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, June 26, 2015 at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, 916 Pine Street, Manitowoc. The Rev. Bruce Schwark will officiate with entombment to follow at Knollwood Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am.
