Ernest Ragen Samonds, 63, of Dawson died at 7:35 p.m. yesterday in Memorial hopsital after a long illness.

Mr. Samonds was born May 12, 1893 at Mechanicsburg, the son of John and Margaret Ragen Samonds.

He married Cecelia Helen Krebs Feb. 15, 1941 at Springfield.

He had been a resident of Dawson for the last 10 years and was an electrician for the city water, light and power department for 33 years until his retirement in 1954.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and a sister.

He was a member of the Third Presbyterian church and I.B.E.W., local 193.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Belmar, cith; Mrs. Anna Mae Kemmery, Morris; two sons, E. Melvin Samonds, Westchester; George, city; five grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Kate Bertotto, city, Mrs. Carrie Campbell, Decatur; three brothers, Byron and Clarence, of Springfield, and Harold, of Seattle, Wash.

The body was taken to the Staab funeral home where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with Rev. H.M. Hildebrandt officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn cemetery.
