Selmer "Sal" James Holweger, 69, of Larimore died in his home on Friday, March 13, 2015 after a battle with mesothelioma. Sal was born August 19, 1945 the son of Edith (Fortin) and Leslie Holweger of rural Larimore, North Dakota. He attended school in Larimore, graduating in 1963. Upon high school graduation he served in the navy until 1966. He attended North Dakota State College of Science where he graduated with a degree in refrigeration and air conditioning technology. Sal worked in the trades industry for most of his career and upon retirement helped on his sister and brother-in-law's farm. He is survived by his four brothers: Allan (Judy) Holweger, Newburgh, IN; Jeff (Elaine) Holweger, Newburgh, IN; Darrell (Bonnie) Holweger, Grand Forks; Ralph (Gerette) Holweger, Grand Forks; four sisters: Leslie (Melvin) Hughes, New Smyrna Beach, FL; Aleda (Les) Carpenter, Bells, Texas; Jo Adams, Sherman, TX; Jennifer (Michael) Johnson, Larimore, ND and many nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his father, Leslie Holweger, mother, Edith Fortin Holweger. A celebration of life ceremony will be held on Monday, March 16 at 2:00 PM in the north room at Good Friends in Larimore. Burial will be in the spring.
