MANITOWOC HERALD TIMES, Monday, August 14, 1961: Denis
Joseph Denis 71, of 4213 Broadway St. Manitowoc, died early Saturday morning at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc, after a heart attack.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 am. Wednesday at Pfeffer Funeral Home Manitowoc, and at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc, the Rev. Clement Kern officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.

Mr. Denis was born Oct. 14, 1889, at Norway, Mich., son of the late Victor and Mary Gauthier Denis. He married Orea Ayotte Sept. 7, 1915, at Iron River, Mich., and she preceded him in death May 9, 1929.
He married Ida Robinson Feb. 10, 1933, at Manitowoc. He had moved to this county in 1921 and was employed by the Town of Two Rivers. His wife, Ida, preceded him in death April 3, 1948. Also preceding him in death were a son and three daughters.

Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Bertha Lang of Hardin, Mont., Mrs. Gladys Brien of Milwaukee, Mrs. Genevieve Kafka of Two Rivers, Mrs. June Schultz and Joseph Denis of Manitowoc, and Mrs. Dorothy Munro of Dundee, Ill.; six sons, Alvin, Orville, Ernest and Donald of Manitowoc, Pfc. George, stationed with the U.S. Army in Germany, and Harrold Burt of Manitowoc; a brother, Charles of Iron River, Mich.; four sisters, Mrs. George Phillips of Iron Mountain, Mich., Mrs. Martin Potter, Mrs. Anna Berg and Marie of Chicago, and 25 grandchildren.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Tuesday where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. by members of the parish.
