Josephine E. Wood, 70, of Marinette, WI passed away on Monday, July 20, 2015, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. She was born on June 11, 1945, to Joseph Denis and Ida Denis in Mishicot.

At age three, her mother passed away and she was adopted by Bernard Dura and Blanche Dura .

She graduated from Marinette Catholic Central in 1964 and furthered her education by receiving her nursing certification.

On June 10, 1972, Josephine married Duane Wood at Sacred Heart Church in Marinette.
She had worked as a CNA at Marinette General Hospital and Rennes Health Care Center and as a Physical Therapy Assistant for several years with Dwight Ash. She also worked as a private housekeeper for many years. Josephine was a member of Holy Family Parish and the YMCA, where she enjoyed swimming with “the girls”.

Josephine is survived by her husband of 43 years, Duane Wood of Marinette;
son LeRoy Wood of Marinette, WI;
brother Harold (Maryann) Burt of Mishicot, WI; [b. Harold James Dennis 1937]
sister Dorothy “Dolly” Bessette of Wausau, WI;
many nieces and nephews;
special friends, Larry and Kathy;
and her water class at the YMCA.

She was preceded in death by both her birth and adoptive parents; seven brothers:
Alvin, Alfred, LeRoy/Roy, Orville (Lucille) [4/15/1933-4/12/2002],
Ernest, George and Don Denis;
and seven sisters:
Bertha Lang-Kiel;
Gladys Brien-Compton 2/26/2925-9/8/2004];
Genevieve 'Jenny' Kafka;
June Schultz-Nitzschke [6/4/1928-3/31/2002];
Ciera "Verna Mae"; Lorraine and Virgina.

Visitation will be held at Thielen Funeral Home on Friday, July 24th from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Parish Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Taylor St. Burial will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Manitowoc.

Per the 1930 census of Brown Co., WI ~~ her sisters Bertha, Gladys and Genevieve were placed in the St. Joseph's Orphanage Asylum located in Allouez, Brown Co., WI.
