Kryn Breen was born in Ouddorp, Zuid Holland, Netherlands on November 6, 1833. He was the child of Paulus Paulusz Breen and Neeltje Vander Sluijs. His parents had nine. One child born in 1827 was also named Krijn. This baby died though in 1829.
On June 30, 1859 Kryn married Neeltje Visser, daughter of Olpher Reijers Visser and Trijntje Jans Kromhout on the Island of Texel. They became parents of nine children, the first five of which were born on Ouddorp. Their second child, Alfred died before his second birthday, but the remaining four accomanpanied their parents to America in 1867. . According to Dutch records, Krijn Breen was a Dutch Reformed fisherman, aged 34, who emigrated with his wife and 4 children. His "prosperity" is listed as mingegoed, or middle class. Thanks to information from a cousin, Mary Miller I was able to learn that Kryn and his family immigrated aboard the "City of Baltimore." by way of Liverpool which arrived in New York on October 14, 1867.
The names of the children born in the Netherlands were Paul (my gr gr grandfather) Alfred, Evert, Trijntje, and Cornelius. Six more chidren blessed this union after their arrival in America. They are Alfred, Nellie, Grace, Peter, John, and Ralph.
The decendents of Kryn Breen and Nellie Visser now numbers well over 1000 people as of this writing. Their son Paul married Maria Oostdijk, Evert Breen married Antonia De Fouw, Trijntje (or Jenny) married Albert Smitter, Cornelius married Grace DeVries, Alfred married Susan Smitter, Nellie married Herman Miller, Grace married Lucas Mannes, Peter married Minnie Hunderman, John married Jennie DePoorter, and Ralph married Anna Schansema. There were a couple of "second" marriages as well, but the ones listed are the ones that produced descendents.
Kryn lived until the age of 91. He is buried in the Graafschap Cemetery along side his wife of 56 years Neeltje Visser Breen. Kryn had a brother named Pieter Breen who married Jannetje Tanis, who immigrated to the Chicago, illinois are and a sister named Corena who married Pieter Coenraad Kaluf who immigrated outside of Chicago to Lake county, Indiana.

He is survived by seven children: Paul of Allendale, Cornelius, Peter and John of Holland, Mrs H. Miller of Zeeland, Mrs. Peter Jacobus of Holland, and Ralph of Grand Rapids.
The funeral was held on Monday at two o'clock at the home of Peter Breen, 204 West 11th Street, Rev. Mr Oostendorp of Zeeland officiating. Interment was in the Graafschap Cemetery.
