Katherine "Katie" (Hamilton) Slovik, 90, of Lima, passed away April 9, 2015, at 10:25 am, St Rita's Medical Center.
She was born April 9, 1925, in Detroit, MI, to Archie and Florence (Buchan) Hamilton, who preceded her in death. On May 26, 1951, she married Walter R. Slovik, who preceded her in death on June 14, 1997.
Katie graduated from Grosse Ile High School and the Detroit Commercial College earning an associate degree. She loved golf, but hadn't recently been playing. Bridge was Katie's passion, and she played in several groups. Katie was a big Michigan State University Spartan fan. She had several great jobs, retiring from Michigan Public Schools the last of which was at Southgate Community School District and later working part time at Lazarus.
Survivors include son, Thomas (Maggie) Slovik; granddaughter, Kayla M. Slovik, who she often referred to as "Treat"; three special nieces, Jan Warren, Deko Carpenter, and Sharon Pirttima; and several other nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by sister, Agnes Morrison.
A family memorial service will be held at a later date. Katie's ashes will be joined with her husband Walt's and be put to rest in St. James Episcopal Church Memorial Garden in Grosse Ile, MI.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita's Hospice or the West Ohio Food Bank.
