Obituary - Mrs. Catherine M. Lutz, 83, died at her home, 314 East Avenue, Riverhead, on Thursday, July 24, following a four weeks illness. Until she was stricken, Mrs. Lutz had been alert and active in her home duties. Mrs. Lutz was the daughter of the late John and Ann (Kenny) Brown, and was born in Baiting Hollow. She had been a respected resident of Riverhead Town all her life. She was a woman with a pleasant personality, cheerful and friendly in her daily contacts, devoted to her home and family, and her many friends mourn the passing of one who was so kind and thoughtful in her associations. From childhood she had been a faithful member of St. John's the Evangelist Church and was a member of Altar and Rosary Societies and the League of the Sacred Heart. Mrs. Lutz was the widow of William Lutz who died in 1943. Surviving are two daughters and five sons; Dr. James C.W. Lutz of Riverhead; Mrs. Anna Benton of Brooklyn; Mr. John P. Lutz of Rochester; Mr. Bart A. Lutz of Kew Gardens; Dr. Frank E. Lutz of Bronxville; and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday morning of last week with a Solemn High Requiem Mass, in St. John's the Evangelist R.C. Church. The celebrants of the Mass were Rev. A.J. Pfundstein, pastor; Rev. H.J. Hanley, assistant pastor; and Rev. Stanley Forker of St. Catherine's Church, Brooklyn. Interment was in the family plot in St. John's Cemetery, Riverhead. Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Leonard & Rogers Funeral Homes.
