Paul A. Gehrig, age 83, a former Branch resident, died Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Allouez Parkside, Green Bay.

He was born on February 27, 1932 in Sheboygan, son of the late Edmund P. and Veronika M. (Woelfel) Gehrig. Paul was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955. He received his Bachelors Degree from University of Wisconsin - Whitewater, and his Masters Degree from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. He was employed at Lakeshore Technical College for many years, retiring in 1994. On November 21, 1990 he married the former Emily "Amy" Bodart in Sheboygan. Paul was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed biking, puzzle making, gardening and the Green Bay Packers.

Survivors include his wife: Amy Gehrig, Branch; his children: Michael A. & Linda Gehrig, Chippewa Falls, WI., Gregory Gehrig, Madison, Jean M. & Karl Dietz, Sheboygan, Kris & Cory Kammerzelt, Sheboygan; a step daughter: Amanda Wiegert, Minneapolis; six grandchildren: Madeline & Lydia Gehrig, Danielle & Dustin Dietz, Cody & Dalton Kammerzelt; ; three sisters and brothers-in-law: Mary Jane & Edward Renaud, Kimberly, Gerry & Ernie Wuestenhagen, Sheboygan Falls, Barbara & Terry Gartman, California; a sister-in-law: Mary Gehrig, Huntley, Illinois; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Clarence & Susan Bodart, Valders, Joseph & Dianne Bodart, Clarks Mills, Mary & Bill Schweitzer, Amherst, Lorraine & Wesley Wehausen, Cato, Barbara & Jim Haese, Reedsville, Michael & Debra Bodart, Manitowoc, and Lisa & Rick Beimborn, Cato. Also surviving are his beloved cats: Bonnie & Clyde, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by a son: David Gehrig in 1984; a brother: Donald Gehrig; and a brother-in-law: Karl Schultz.

Cremation has occurred at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 Noon Thursday, August 13, 2015 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Richard Klingeisen with entombment of the cremated remains at Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, town of Kossuth.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Mary Catholic Church, Clarks Mills, from 9:30 a.m. Thursday, August 13, 2015 until 11:45 a.m.

The Christianson & Deja Funeral Home, Valders, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

The family would like to extend a sincere Thank You to the staff of Heartland Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Paul and his family.
