Alexander Douglas and Catherine McKenzie at Stoneykirk had a son-Alexr born March 26 baptised March 28.

OPR MARRIAGE ENTRY BARONEY PARISH GLASGOW 1828-
Alexander Douglas, Taylor (sic) in Glasgow and Ann Paterson, residing there Married 3 November by Dr John Burns Minister of Barony.

Alexander 30 tailor, Ann 28, Jean 11, Ann 8 and Catherine 4 were residing at 223 Main Street Gorbals.

IMMIGRATION 1842
Alexander McKenzie DOUGLAS, his wife Ann, and three daughters- Jane, Ann and Catherine sailed to Sydney NSW per ss BROOM arriving on 13 Feb 1842. Four children were born in NSW-Fanny (1842), Alexander Gilbert (1845), James Hardie (1847) and Georgina (1850-1850).

After their eldest daughter, Jane, married a sea captain, George Jackson, and moved to San Francisco, the Douglas family followed, sailing per the ss ARTEMISIA on 4 March 1851. They resided in Stockton Street, San Francisco from 1851-1856 and their youngest son, William Folsom (1852) was born there. After George Jackson's death, Jane married Jeremiah Wallace SULLIVAN, a pioneer newsagent in San Francisco. Second daughter, Ann, married James W JOHNSTON, a dagurrean artist in San Francisco and Fanny married Martin Collins HYNES.

In 1856 Alexander, Ann and their three sons, Alexander, James and William and daughter, Catherine, returned to Sydney per the ss JANE A FAULKENBERG, and Alexander resumed his tailoring business in Clarence Street Church Hill.
