Jane McNair JACKSON/SULLIVAN (nee DOUGLAS) was born in Stranraer Scotland and sailed with her family to Sydney AUSTRALIA per ss BROOM in 1842. She lived in Clarence Street Sydney where her father, Alexander, ran a tailoring business.

On 19 Oct 1847 in Sydney she married sea captain George JACKSON and had a son, Charles Alexander JACKSON (3 Mar 1849-20 Jun 1922). They sailed to San Francisco and after George's death she married Jeremiah Wallace SULLIVAN (1826-29 May 1868) an early pioneer newsagent and bookseller.

Jane's parents. Alexander McKenzie DOUGLAS and Ann PATERSON, also travelled to San Francisco residing there from 1851-1856 before returning to Sydney.

Jane's sister Annie DOUGLAS married James W JOHNSON a Daguerrean artist/ photographer in San Francisco. Another sister, Fanny, married Martin Collins HYNES before returning to Sydney.

Jane DOUGALS and George JACSON had one son-

Jane was buried at Laurel Hill Cemetery and after it closed was re interred at Cypress Lawn. She is buried with her niece Alida GUNN (nee JOHNSON) and Alida's first husband, John T MURRAY..
