She was a 1944 graduate of Stinesville High School. She worked for the Spencer Clothes Pin Factory, then nearly 30 years of service at Indiana Bell, retiring in 1983 as a telephone operator. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Spencer and of the Tell A Bells local ladies. She enjoyed feeding hummingbirds, gardening, and flowers.
She is survived by her fours sons, Gary (Remona) Franklin of Ellettsville, Gordon (Linda) Franklin of Spencer, Gail (Kelly) Franklin of Martinsville, and Garland (Alicia) Franklin of Spencer; her brother, Loris (Freida) Smith of Spencer; five grandchildren, Christina, Scott, and Shane Franklin, Michelle Dyar, and Shelby Wilson; and four greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Garold Franklin; and a brother, Dwain Smith.
Funeral service will be held at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2015, with her granddaughter, Rev. Michelle Dyar officiating. Burial will follow at Chambersville Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m., and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
