James Sutton Dies
Pioneer, Born in Texas, 71 Years Ago, Passes Away
James Sutton, better known as “Jim” Sutton, one of the pioneers of Texas, died at his home, 1851 East Commerce Street, at 1 o’clock Thursday afternoon.
Mr. Sutton, who was 74 years old at the time of his death, was born in Fayette County, Texas, but lived later in Karnes County, and for thirty years in Wilson county. He served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War, having enlisted in General Green’s brigade.
He is survived by his widow, four sons, John and Joe Sutton, of Stockdale, M.V. Sutton of Pearsall, and Bob Sutton of Cotulla, Texas; and by a daughter, Mrs. O. R. Bellinger, 18 East Commerce Street. The body will be sent to Stockdale by the Hagy and McCollum Undertaking Company, where funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. G. W. Kee of Jourdanton, a long time friend of the deceased.
