LaVerne was born Oct. 4,1922, in Reifs Mills, daughter of the late Frank and Barbara (Leiterman) Seidl. On August 21, 1951, LaVerne married Daniel Matczynski at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Manitowoc. LaVerne worked for the Manitowoc Telephone Company, the Manitowoc Clinic, and Schuette Department Store until her retirement.
Survivors include her husband, Daniel Matczynski, Manitowoc; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Neil and Debbie, Manitowoc, and Brian, Monona; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Barbara and Perry Knockel, N.M., Hope Schubert, Watertown, Kay and Dave Christel, Manitowoc; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Knockel, Bradley Knockel, Erin Schubert, Ryan Schubert, Brittany Matczynski, Tessa Christel; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Evangeline Seidl, Manitowoc, Marcella (Melvin) Krejcarek, Manitowoc; one brother-in-law, Robert Matczynski and his wife, Phyllis, Manitowoc. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
LaVerne was preceded in death by one granddaughter, one brother, Clarence Seidl, and four sisters, Rose Kliment, Elsie Seidl, Helen Denk, and Florence Dvorachek.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, where a prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. led by Deacon Robert Drobka. The visitation will continue on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 10 a.m. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. will be the Rev. Tom Wojciechowski, OFM. Entombment will follow at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc.
