Mrs. Anna Scheurell, 86, a long-time resident of Manitowoc, died Monday
afternoon at the Holy Family Hospital after a short illness. For the last three years she
had been making her home with a daughter, Mrs. Frank Simono, 1911 27th St., Two
Rivers.
Funeral services will be held at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, at 9:30 a.m.
Thursday and at the St. Boniface Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Officiating at the solemn
requiem high mass will be Rev. Alfred Pritzl, Rev. Earl Brouchoud and Seminarian
Francis Simono, her nephew. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mrs. Scheurell was born Anna Braumeister (sic) in Bavaria in 1866. She came to the
United States at the age of 16 and six years later was married to John Scheurell in
Chicago. After five years in that city, the couple moved to Manitowoc. Mr. Scheurell
died in 1940. Four children also preceded her in death. Mrs. Scheurell was a member
of the St. Anne Christian Mothers Society and the St. Theresa Society of St. Boniface
Church.
In addition to Mrs. Simono, Mrs. Scheurell is survived by another daughter, Mrs.
Walter Horsthetter, Route 3, Manitowoc, a son, Francis M. of Manitowoc; a brother,
John Braumeister, of Bavaria; 24 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
The rosary will be recited at the funeral home by the Knights of Columbus at 6:45 p.m.
Wednesday and by Rev. Pritzl at 7 p.m. The St. Theresa society will recite the rosary
at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday.
