Mrs. Ole Knutson, who has been a resident of Alexandria since 1903, passed away at her home on Tenth Avenue and Kenwood Street Monday morning at 4:35 o'clock, after an illness of nearly two weeks. Death was the result of hemorrhage of the brain, Tuesday morning, Oct. 2, while engaged in doing chores about her home. One week later she suffered a paralytic stroke. Though gradually failing in strength, she remained conscious until last Friday, and continued in that condition until relieved by death.
Mrs. Knutson, whose maiden name was Anna Peterson, was born in Norway, May 11, 1863, and at the time of her death she was 60 years, 5 months and 4 days of age. While still in her native land, she was united in marriage to Ole Knutson, Sept. 21, 1884.In October of that same year, they immigrated to the United States and came directly to Douglas County, settling in Evansville. Here they remained until 1903, when they came to Alexandria, and this has ever since been their home.
Mr. and Mrs. Knutson were the parents of seven children, four of whom preceded their mother in death. Besides the husband, the following daughter and two sons survive, Mrs. Arthur Alger, Carl O. and Oscar Knutson, all of this city. There are five grandchildren. Mrs. Knutson is also survived by one sister, who still lives in Norway, and another sister, Mrs. T. H. Bakke, who lives in this city.
Funeral services are being held this afternoon at one o'clock from the home, and at two o'clock from the Norwegian Lutheran church, Rev. A. T. Tjornhom officiating. Interment in Kinkead cemetery. The pall bearers are John Klegseth, Albert Johnson, Ole Botner, Hans Antonson, John Olson and Anton Hauglie.
