Everlasting Sleep.
Death of Genial, Whole-Souled Robert Agar Friday Morning.
Robert Agar, a well-known and highly esteemed citizen of Lock Haven, died Friday morning, shortly after 8 o’clock, at his residence 215 East Park street, of a complication of diseases, aged 54 years. He is survived by his wife, two brothers, J. H. and Walter Agar, and two sisters, Mrs. P. McCaffrey, of this city, and Mrs. Mollie Monroe, of Scranton. The funeral took place on Monday. Deceased was a member of the well-known firm Agar Bros., proprietors of the foundry and machine shops at the corner of railroad and Liberty streets. Mr. Agar was a man whose word was as good as his bond. He was conscientious and upright, and by his example through life made the world better for his having been in it. He was for many years an active member of Lock Haven fire department and for a long time was engineer of the Silsby steam fire engine, a position he was well qualified to fill by reason of his being a skilled machinist and engineer. Few men in Lock Haven enjoyed a larger acquaintance than Robert Agar and all will regret his demise.
The funeral of Robert Agar took place Monday afternoon, the funeral services being conducted by Rev. Francis McCarthy in the church of the Immaculate Conception. There was a large attendance at the funeral and there were numerous floral tributes. The pall bearers were William Long, E. A. Monegham, R. H. McGhee, Charles Seitler, John Cummings and Timothy Sullivan. A delegation of members of the old Cataract Fire company attended the funeral.
