John A. Gamble, age 85, of 2217 S. 11th Street, Manitowoc, died Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at his residence.

He was born on December 10, 1929 in Manitowoc, son of the late Anna (Butz) Gamble. He was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, Class of 1948. John enlisted in the National Guard and then was a Veteran of the United States Army with a tour of duty in Korea. On September 28, 1957 he married the former Janice Greunke in Manitowoc. John was employed as a machinist at Manitowoc Engineering for 34 years, where he rode his bike to work daily for 25 years. He was a member of the Manitowoc County Beekeepers and he volunteered for Meals on Wheels. He loved woodworking, gardening, golf, bowling and biking. John was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish.

Survivors include his wife: Janice Gamble, Manitowoc; a son: Greg Gamble, Manitowoc; a daughter and son-in-law: Christy and Karl Linsmeier, Green Bay; a granddaughter: Allison Linsmeier; a sister-in-law: Charlotte (Duffy) Warren and her husband Lee, Arizona; and a brother-in-law: Chester Greunke and his wife, Lucille, Burlington. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

He was also preceded in death by a son: Gary Gamble; one brother and sister-in-law: Warren and Elizabeth Gamble and two sisters and a brother-in-law: Winifred Gamble and Catherine and Daniel Guralski. He is further preceded in death by two brothers-in-law: Donald Greunke and William Duffy.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand - 1416 Grand Avenue, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. David Beaudry with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc, at a later date. Military Rites will be accorded by V.F.W. Otto Oas Post #659 immediately following the service at church.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand, Manitowoc, from 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2015 until 10:15 a.m.

Pfeffer Funeral Home & All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Aurora Cancer Care Center and Aurora Hospice Staff for the care and compassion extended to John and his family.
