Janice A. Gamble

Manitowoc - Janice A. Gamble, age 85, of Manitowoc passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at Aurora Medical Center Manitowoc County.

Janice was born April 20, 1935 in the Town of Cato, daughter of the late Edwin and Blanche (Dvorny) Greunke. She attended schools in Valders and graduated with the class of 1954 from Valders High School. On September 28, 1957 she married John Gamble in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on April 28, 2015. Janice was employed at Aluminum Specialty after graduating high school, but spent the majority of her working career at James Monroe Elementary School in Manitowoc as a school aide. Janice was known for her kind, caring and friendly personality. She enjoyed her time at James Monroe so much that after her retirement she continued to volunteer there, including helping students improve their reading skills by bringing her beloved dog, Sable, to the library for the kids to read to. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother for her eldest son. Having grown up on a farm helping with chores, she continued to have a love for animals and gardening throughout life. Besides enjoying tending to her many flowers and plants around her home and yard, Janice enjoyed walking, especially with her dogs, spending time with family and friends, was an avid fan of the Bucks, Badgers and Brewers, and always had her radio tuned into WOMT radio.

Janice is survived by one son: Greg Gamble, Manitowoc; one daughter: Christy Linsmeier, Green Bay; one granddaughter: Allison Linsmeier, Green Bay; one brother and sister-in-law: Chester (Lucille) Greunke, Burlington; one brother-in-law: Lee Warren, Scottsdale, AZ; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: John Gamble; one son: Gary Gamble; one brother: Donald Gruenke; one sister: Charlotte Duffy; brother-in-law: William Duffy; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Catherine (Daniel) Guralski.
