Born in Gibson, Wisconsin on October 6, 1928, he was the son of Edward and Blanche (nee Dvorny) Greunke. Chester served in the US Army from 1945 until 1948 in the European Theatre of Occupation and on April 27, 1951, he was united in marriage to Lucille Hammel. Following marriage, they resided in Valders, Wisconsin before moving to Burlington in 1965.
Chester worked at Nestlé for 34 years, retiring as a supervisor in 1991. He liked fishing, tinkering around the house, jogging, working out to stay fit and spending time with his grandkids.
Chester is survived by his wife, Lucille; children, Chester (Kristen) Greunke Jr., Gordon (Lynn) Greunke and Sharon (Bob Kerr) Rueter-Johnson; grandchildren, Justin Koshak, Kristen (Josh) Hegemann, Katie (Justin) Van Beckum, and Kellen (Kaitlin) Rueter; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Brynlee and Levi; and brother-in-law, Lee Warren. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Donald Greunke; Janice (John) Gamble; Charlotte Duffy-Warren; and brother-in-law, Bill Duffy.
