WATERBURY — David Santa Maria, 70, passed away peacefully at Waterbury Hospital on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.

David was born Sept. 9, 1944, in Waterbury, the son of the late Patsy and Alyce (Konner) Santa Maria. He was educated in local schools and graduated from Croft High School. He was a retired employee of CL&P where he worked for many years as a lineman. He was a proud grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He was a valued neighbor at the Laurel Ridge community complex in Wolcott. He helped to maintain the community garden and was always available to lend a helping hand to his neighbors. He was an avid animal lover and was especially close to his dog, Rudy.

David was known for his great sense of humor and welcoming smile. He will be sorely missed by many.

David is survived by his former wife and best friend, Geri (LaPlante) Santa Maria; his son, David G. Santa Maria and his wife, Gina, of Waterbury; daughters Lori Leonard-Boullie and her husband, John, of Avon, and Holly Lloyd and her husband, Donte, of Hamden; and his five grandchildren, Joseph, William, Sarah, David and Cameron. He also leaves his brother, John Santa Maria of Prospect, and his sisters, Patricia Bousaada of Waterbury, and Donna Whitney of Sierra Vista, Ariz., in addition to many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Santa Maria will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2015, at SS. Peter and Paul Church, 65 Southmayd Road, Waterbury.
