John H. Zinn, age 88, of 2511 15th Street, Two Rivers, died Sunday morning, July 31, 2011 at his residence.
John was born July 24, 1923, in Two Rivers, son of the late Peter and Alma (Frenz) Zinn. He served his country with the U.S. Army 35th Division during WWII. On October 25, 1947 he married Wilma Weihemuller at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Mishicot. Presiding at the wedding was Rev. Edward Zell.
John enjoyed hunting, fishing, building ships, bird houses and feeders. He was employed with the City of Two Rivers Water and Light Dept. for 38 years. John was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his wife: Wilma Zinn, Two Rivers; one son and daughter-in-law: Philip and Margaret Zinn, Two Rivers; four grandchildren: Todd (fiancee Carolyn) Zinn, Mishicot; Tammy (Mathew) Hazaert, Greenleaf; Scott (Wendy) Zinn, Mishicot; Kelly (Chuck) Peck, Manitowoc; seven great grandchildren: Brandon and Marisa, Mayson and Corrin,Morgan and Caleb, and Hannah; brother-in-law: Elmer Weihemuller, Oregon, WI; and sister-in-law: Verda and Jack Rahmlow, Mishicot. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by a son: Mark Zinn; sisters: Dora Seefeldt, Hortense Christianson, Geraldine Leitzke, Vila Kasten, Wilma Busse, and Hazel Babich; two brothers: Carl and William Zinn.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be Rev. David Arndt. Burial will be at Forest View Cemetery where Full Military Honors will be accorded by the Two Rivers VFW and American Legion.
The family will greet relatives and friends at church on Thursday, August 4, 2011 from 9:30 - 10:45 am.
The Klein and Stangel Funeral Home, Two Rivers, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
