Mrs. Capponi was born on December 4, 1924, in Rumford, Maine, a daughter of the late Joseph and Annie (Worthley) McLean of Mexico, Maine. She resided in Mexico with her husband Frank and later moved to Newtown and finally to Bethel where she was a resident for 38 years.
Mrs. Capponi was a very active businesswoman. She was employed by Dr. M.J. Brooks and Dr. H.L. Noyes in Rumford and later worked at Danbury Hospital and Fairfield Hills Hospital. Doris was the former owner of the Stony Hill Gift Shop in Bethel. She also operated a ceramic business and held classes for many students to enjoy throughout the years.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, ----- Capponi Jr. of Southbury; three granddaughters, --------, ------- and -----; two brothers, -------- McLean of Bethel and ----- McLean of Florida; and a sister, ------- Simon of Newtown. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2000, at 10:30 a.m. from the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St., Newtown, and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Bethel, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Stony Hill Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Co., 59 Stony Hill Road, Bethel, CT 06801.
