HINESVILLE -- Bertha Stevens, 95, died Oct. 20 at Cherokee Personal Care Home under care of Hospice of Hinesville.
She was born in Hampton City, Fla., and lived in Sunbury since 1968 after moving from Savannah. She was a 1923 graduate of Telfair Academy of Nursing in Savannah and worked in Savannah hospitals until 1951, when she left Savannah to do private duty nursing in Baltimore. She returned to Savannah in 1961. She was a Methodist.

SURVIVORS: a daughter and son-in-law, Alice Stevens and William Wade Fillingame Sr. of Sunbury; grandchildren, William Wade Fillingame Jr. of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Laurie Alice Fillingame of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Allen Stevens Fillingame of Sunbury; and several cousins.

GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 11 a.m. Saturday in Dorchester Cemetery. -Savannah Now, Oct 1999
