Maurice in 1943. Every male went to war in 1941 to 1945. The USA won! It hasn't happened since. What changed?

Maurice with his 1949 Frazer. He was a complete Kaiser - Frazier man. He loved every thing about them. One of his dreams was to own a Kaiser Darin. Alas, not to be. There was much else though. He had another 1949 Frazer, a 4 door convertible. He kept that car for 35 years. That was his first love. Eventually he sold it and made a collectors profit, he was well rewarded for his years with the car. Moe made a profit on almost every car he ever owned. One of his last cars was a 1954 mercury. A mid size car I remember it had a huge steering wheel. It was nearly mint when he bought it in 1990. He sold it for a very nice profit.

This picture would have been taken in front of Carl A and Marie Bleesses home in Brighton Iowa (gone now) right across from where the old water tower(gone now) sat and behind the Rubio Savings Bank of Brighton (you guessed it, gone now). A little note, the basement under the house was hand dug by you after the home was built. Maybe this was common back then but it sure seems like some kind of punishment grade work. To you, it was just another series of days. Amazing.

Maurice at Carl Alfred and Marie Bleess home near Soccum ridge, Washington Co. Washington, Iowa. It is 1936. Only the barn foundation and a windmill remain. I don't know his friend, a local girl I'm sure. Who could travel far in the depression? Moe was about 20. Rest in peace. Moe, if friends are wealth, you were Midas.
2008.... the lady is Dorthy Livesay. (Picture taken on October 12, 1936).We were all young once, it sure goes fast.
A little note, 2012. I was back in Iowa and Esther and I were driving the countryside. We went past the farm stead where the picture of you with the rifle was taken. That was 1936. In the 80s there was still a windmill and a barn foundation to remind one where you lived. Today there is NO TRACE. It is all plowed field, even the roads have a different location, the local bridge is gone. It doesn't matter, in very few years there wont be any one left who remembers these things.
It is true "all things pass away".

Moe I put this pic in just to shake up any of the Iowans' who thought they knew you. It is a worn out picture but does convey a rare side of you. You enjoyed life in many ways, not all folks knew all the ways. For all you motorcycle collectors, the bike is a 1965 Velocette 500cc, MSS. Yes it leaked oil and vibrated like any British single cylinder. It was fun to ride but not too reliable. Moe, you look like Mike Hailwood here.

The house on Soccum Ridge, S. of Washington, Iowa. Maurice was born here, 1916. Gone now. I was in the neighborhood with Esther 6/2/19. We visited the county park nearby, next to Kaufman's place. A nice park. Wild Iowa,1820 must have been something.
