MASI, ANTHONY 96, son of the late Nicolo and Maria (Pacitto) Masi died after a short illness. Anthony is survived by his daughter, Mary K. Masi of Palm Bay, FL and a brother, Joseph Masi of East Providence, RI. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian J. (Sharkey) Masi , brothers Armando Masi and Louis Masi and sisters Anna Crapolicchi and Gemma Priete. He enlisted in the Army prior to WW II in 1940 with the 118th Ordnance Company, 43rd Division and retired from the reserves as a Lieutenant Colonel. He served three Pacific Tours, initially in Saipan, Iwo Jima and Guam. His second tour was as an Ordnance MAAG Advisor to the Chinese Army in Taiwan. His third tour was as Battalion Maintenance and Battalion Commander in Korea. He also served one tour in Germany as Company Commander of B Company, 743rd Battalion, 43rd Division. Anthony had earned a Diesel Engineering Degree, a Bachelors and Masters Degree in History from the University of Maryland, a Masters Degree in Instructional Technology and a Certificate of Advance Graduate Degree from Rhode Island College. He was employed by the Community College of Rhode Island in 1965 as a History Instructor and retired as a Professor of History. A Memorial and Military Honor Services will be held at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter, RI at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of three scholarships established in the name of Masi , Pacitto or Munson to provide a college education to needy high school graduates.
