William P. Alexander, 73, of Midland, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2015, at his home. Bill was born in Midland County on Nov. 2, 1941, son of the late Andy and Alice (Wallace) Alexander. He was the middle of nine children.
Bill was a 1959 graduate of Midland High School and proudly served his country for four years in the U.S. Air Force. He worked at The Dow Chemical Co. as a carpenter and retired in 1996. Bill married the love of his life, the former Carol Morse, on Nov. 12, 2000. He was an excellent golfer and often had a score several strokes under par. Bill loved to travel and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He attended Floyd Church of God where he served on the Board of Trustees.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Carol, are his children, Russ (Laurie) Alexander, Dennis (Monica) Alexander, Sue Alexander, Steve (Cherie) Smith, Jeff (Stephanie Nelson) Smith, Ken Rydman, Karla (Tom) Dickerson, Kerry (Linda) Rydman and Bethany (Mark) Jones; 22 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Dan Alexander; sisters, Ann Martin, Linda LaForest, Ruth Campbell and Phyllis Withey. In addition to his parents, brothers, Nick, Jerry and Tony; and his granddaughter, Sarah Rydman, all preceded him in death.
Funeral services will take place at 3 p.m., Wednesday, May 6, 2015, from the Floyd Church of God. Pastor Andy Scheller and Pastor Bill Caroffino will officiate, with burial in Lee Township Cemetery. Bill's family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler St., on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 2 p.m. until the time of service.
