We are missing a brother to Luella and John. His name was James Atterberry (spelling variations) and he was the oldest sibling having been born on Aug 29, 1862 in Macon County, Missouri.
After the death of the children's mother, Mary Elizabeth (Buster) Atterberry Buchanan, Luella was given to Humphry and Catherine McQuary to raise until the age of 16. Catherine was the sister of Mary Elizabeth.
My grandfather, John Edward (Ed) Atterbury was given to his great Uncle Zephaniah Murry Atterberry on his farm in Monroe County, Mo.
If anyone has knowledge of James Atterberry born 1862, please email me ([email protected]). It was rumored that he worked for the railroad and may have been killed in an accident. Supposedly he had two sons.
