She was a graduate of the University of South Dakota at Vermillion with a BS Degree in microbiology. She moved to California shortly after graduation and worked at San Jose Medical Clinic, Alexian Brothers, Good Samaritan and St. Louise hospitals until her retirement in 2006. She and her husband Lee lived in Morgan Hill since 1977 to 2006. While there, she was active in the Morgan Hill branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), where she served two terms as President. She and her husband moved from Morgan Hill to her dream in Kilauea, HI on the Island of Kauai in April 2006. While there, she volunteered at the Kilauea Point Lighthouse/National Wildlife Refuge and the Hawaiian Monk Seal Conservation Hui. She was also active in local bridge groups, photography and craft fairs.
