Dorothy Anne Braunel Flynn

Dorothy Anne Braunel Flynn passed away in Scandia, MN on May 7, 2015, she was 79 years old.

Dorothy was born in Manitowoc, WI on November 11, 1935 and had been a longtime Scandia resident.

She was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Manitowoc, WI and graduated with her MA in Psychology from Bradley University, class of 1959. After graduation, she worked for 10 years at the Psychiatric Institute of the Circuit Court of Cook County, Chicago, IL. Dorothy worked in counseling for 19 years at Hazelden Foundation, helping to make it the first accredited training program in Minnesota. She later was an employee assistance/training manager for the St. Croix Chippewa of Wisconsin, residing on the reservation.

A loving friend, sister and aunt she enjoyed reading, writing and crossword puzzles. She frequently wrote about "life on the lake" under the pen name "D in Scandia" for the Pioneer Press Bulletin Board.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Lillian Braunel; her sisters, Jean Jackson, Laura Braunel, Irene Greenwalt and her brother Paul Braunel.

She is survived by her best friend and roomie, Elaine Helmberger of Scandia, MN, nieces Karin Braunel Tuschl of Whitelaw, WI, Phyllis Boettcher of De Pere, WI, Janelle Van Rensselaer of Burlingame, CA and nephew Richard Greenwalt of Austin, TX, and lovingly by her cats, "Gabby", "Lucy", "Gracie", and" Balu".
