Mrs. Edwin (Marie) Lillian) Braunel, 83, of 3418 Lindbergh Drive, Manitowoc, died Sunday morning, May 30, at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Bruce W. Hanstedt will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mrs. Braunel was born Dec. 4, 1898? at Brillion, daughter of the late August and Laura Enders Chakoski. She grew up and was educated at Brillion. She was married to Edwin W. Braunel, June 29, 1921, at Brillion, the couple moving to Manitowoc. They owned and operated Edwin W. Braunel Plumbing Company. Mr. Braunel preceded her in death in May of 1963. Mrs. Braunel retired in 1979. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Naomi Circle of First Lutheran Church Women, Manitowoc Lions Auxiliary, Eastern Star Chapter 196, Two Rivers-Manitowoc Shrine Auxiliary, and a former worthy matron. She was also a member of Manitowoc County Plumbers Association, past president of Wisconsin Association of Plumbing Contractors Auxiliary, past president of Manitowoc Women's Club, and former president of Eighth District Wisconsin Federation of women's Clubs.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Ruth Braunel of Manitowoc; four daughters and a son-in-law, Jean Jackson of Green lake, Wis., Laura Braunel of Manitowoc; Irene and Richard Greenwalt of Perth, Australia, and Dorothy Flynn of Scandia, Minn.; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and until 11 a.m. Thursday, and at the church from noon until the time of services. An Eastern Star memorial service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials are appreciated to First Lutheran Church, St. Mary Home, Wisconsin Lions Camp or Shriners Hospital.
