The condition of Jacob Cozine, one of the oldest residents of New Lotts, who is suffering with internal trouble, is improved today. His daughter, Kathryn said this morning he seemed brighter than he has been for many days. Last Sunday his condition was thought so serious all his immediate relatives gathered at his bedside, expecting the end, but the old man began to improve and hopes are now entertained for his recovery.
Mr. Cozine and his two daughters, Kathryn and Mrs. Walter Vanderveer, of Newtown, were talking with him yesterday when he remarked that he hoped to celebrate his eightieth birthday on New Year's day. His face lighted up with a smile when he recalled he was born on the last minute of the last day of the last month of the year 1833.
Mr. Cozine is a charter member of the St. Nicholas Society and lives at 968 New Lots avenue in a house erected by his great grandfather. He was in control of a great tract of farmland in New Lots, which when laid out in building lots, brought him a fortune.
