Rowena Salley was born January 6, 1935 in Jackson County and departed this life Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the Hospice Care Center in Lexington, being 80 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Herman & Verdie (Van Winkle) Carrier.
Rowena is survived by three children, Judy Sharon Powell and husband Don of Sand Gap, Terry Rose of Sand Gap and Brian Salley of Berea. She is also survived by a brother, Forester Carrier and wife Frances of Indiana and by a sister, Violet Bowman of Lexington. Rowena was blessed with five grandchildren, Rachael Lakes and husband Lewis, Brandon Powell and wife Kristen, Jonathan Rose, Austin Rose and Dylan Rose and by four great grandchildren, Jaxon Powell, Cody Lakes, Parker Wells and Chrystal Rose.
In addition to her parents, Rowena was also preceded in death by her first husband Alex Rose. Later in life she married Letcher Salley who also preceded her in death. Also preceded her in death were several brothers and sisters.
Rowena was of the Holiness Faith.
Funeral service was held 3:00PM Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Lakes Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Gray officiating. Burial followed in the Pilot Knob Cemetery. Lakes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
