About noon on the 8th of February, Rufus Alsup, son of Mr. Andrew Alsup of South Llano, met his death at the hand of another, while at work on the Schreiner Creek Ranch in Edwards County, of which injury he died a few hours later while enroute to Junction for medical attention. Hobson Parker is in custody of the officers, but at this time no charges have been filed. The two were at work on a fence line, although others working along the same fence saw or heard nothing, or have not talked for publication of what they heard. Both of these young men are well known in the county and have many friends who feel sorrowful over the sad occurrence. Rufus was considered a good energetic boy. Natural life is short at best and it is deplorable when one is deprived of it by an unnatural cause. He was born in Edwards County, May 21, 1900, son of Andrew Henry and Margaret Isabell (Vest) Alsup. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on the 9th, at the Wootten Cemetery. Alvin Rufus Allsup, died February 8, 1921, of trauma of the head, fracture of the skull, age 20 years, 8 months and 17 days. (He was murdered) Single, Ranchman, Father, Andrew Henry Allsup, born MO, Mother, Margarite Isabell Vest. Informant, Miss Allsup, Junction City, TX. Buried in Fleming Grave Yard.
