Elizabeth was the daughter of Adalbert Hrach and Mary Siva Hrach. She was born in Ševetín, Bohemia and came to the United States around 1881. She married Johan Kubat on June 14, 1885 at St Johns Church in Chicago. She and Johan had at least nine children, six of whom outlived their parents - a remarkable record for the time. The family lived for many years at 5021 S Robey Street (now 5021 S. Damen) in Chicago.
