On his 75th birthday, widower, Robert Harrison died. Seven years earlier, his only known wife, Sarah (maiden name unknown) preceded him in death.
He lived on land, around the private Harrison Family Cemetery. Today, there are 11 known markers, 9 foot stones, 3 iron stones and possibly several more. Four other Harrisons were located in the All Saints Church Parish Register, beginning in 1859. They are listed as buried here at the Family Burying Ground (or similar) and they appear not to have markers.
1783 Maryland State Archives, Maryland Indexes, Assessment of 1783 Index, Calvert Co., MDA S 1437 lists Robert Harrison. Calvert Co. 2nd District, p. 17. MSA S 1161-3-2, 1/4/5/46.
There are a lot of Richard Harrison family members in the early Quaker records in Calvert Co., Maryland. Plus, in 1700 Richard Harrison owned Harrisons Enlargement to Grammers Chance in Calvert Co., Certificate 425 acres in Book CC4, p 155 and patent for 425 acres in Book WD, p 188 (MSA records). There was also a William Harrison with a 1763 probate in the same county.
The artwork at the top of Robert's marble gravestone is a weeping willow tree (for sadness). His stone was in two pieces when Grave Concerns repaired it in 2007. Looks great now.
The Harrison family was associated with All Saints Episcopal Church for many years. The church was built in 1774-1777. The 1st list of their pew holders only contains one Harrison, William. He was in front of the pulpit in pew #17, and paid "$17.00 per year" for the family pew.
