Margaret Barns age 89 of Grinnell, Iowa died on Wednesday at the St Francis Manor in Grinnell. Burial in the Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

Margaret Ann Milligan was the daughter of Timothy Edward and Anna Orrell Jones Milligan. She was raised in Grinnell and attended Grinnell schools.

She was married to Dave Barns on March 27, 1947 in Iowa City, Iowa. To this union was born three sons, Vernon, James and Jerry.

They made their home in Grinnell and she was employed as a cook for the Grinnell-Newburg School District for 35 years. She retired in 1999. After fracturing her hip a few years ago she moved to an apartment at Seeland Park in Grinnell.

Maggie enjoyed maintaining her yard and she shoveled her walks and mowed her lawn until she was in her early 80s. She was very proud of her seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.
