Alice was born May 18, 1926 in Geyersdorf/ Annaberg, Germany and died on May 19, 2015 in her home in South Jordan, Utah exactly as she desired. Mom was married to the late John Flade and was a loving, kind, caring and compassionate mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mom's love had no bounds, not even the oceans, and she could never get enough of her family. She had an undeniable and never ending faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ and was a devout member of the LDS church.

She is survived by her daughter and her sons. Mom is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

As a young woman, mom joined the German army and served in the Reich's Arbeit Dienst, a female service corps established to help women with children during WWII while husband's fought in the war. This began her long legacy of serving others selflessly. Additionally, mom had a long history of missionary work which began by introducing the church to many of the young women in the corps. This "good habit" continued throughout her life and reached a pinnacle when she supported and served with her husband as mission president of the Frankfurt, Germany mission from 1977-1980. While somewhat reserved in other aspects of her life, mom had no fear of proclaiming her faith in the gospel even during perilous times after the war while living under Soviet Communist rule in the then newly created East Germany.

Mom was also a very industrious woman, a characteristic gained from her own mother, and became a very accomplished seamstress in the upholstery industry while working with dad in their furniture business located in Sun Valley, Idaho. Her skills on a commercial sewing machine were unmatched when she sewed the complicated leather tufting of furniture that once belonged to the likes of Marie Antoinette, but mom never gave those things a second thought. Mom's focus was on family, homemaking and church. She was an excellent cook and rarely used a recipe. Her home cooked German meals, from scratch, have become a family legacy and will likely never be duplicated quite the same ever again. Mom will be incredibly missed but never forgotten.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 26th at 5:00 pm at the Glenmoor 3rd Ward Chapel located at 9455 South 4800 West, South Jordan, Utah. A public viewing will be held prior to the funeral service beginning at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the General Missionary Fund of the LDS Church. Interment at Salt Lake City Cemetery will be Wednesday, May 27th at 11:00 a.m.
