The Huntsville Times, Thursday, December 29, 1949: Willie "Gloomer" Towery, 43, of 5l5 Stevens avenue, died at the Huntsville hospital at 9:45 p.m.yesterday, following a long illness. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Daisy Turner Towery; two daughters, Wilma and Betty, both at home; one son, C. A. Towery of Chattanooga; two brothers, Rice Towery of Huntsville and Leonard Towery of Larkinsville; one sister, Mrs. George Stewart of Fayetteville; two half-brothers, Jim Towery of Huntsville, and John Towery of Hazel Green; two half-sisters, Mrs. Flora Price of Fayetteville and Mrs. Addie Davis of Flintville, Tenn.; also a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from the State Line Methodist church at 2 p.m. Friday. Interment in the church cemetery will be directed by Laughlin Service funeral home. Pallbearers will be John Lowe, Jr., Holand Porter, John Lowe Thomas, Harvey Keel, Arlie Ivey,Oscar Sims, Johnny Broad and Lambert Porter. Mr. Towery was a native of Madison County, and had been employed here as a mechanic for a number of years.
