CENTERVILLE, Ind. – Geneva Abney, age 83, of Centerville, died Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Reid Hospital. Born January 18, 1932, in Rockcastle County, Kentucky, to Riley and Pearl Abrams Jones, Geneva lived most of her life in this community. She was a loving wife and mother. Geneva retired from Rose Hamilton School as a cook after 28 years. She loved cooking, homemaking, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sitting on the front porch with her husband, and taking care of the yard. Survivors include her husband of 68 years, William Abney; daughters, Yvonne Tucker of Centerville, Indiana, and Linda Abney of Houston, Texas; sons, Rick (Sandy) Abney of Centerville, Indiana, and Bill (Amanda) Abney of Richmond; grandchildren, Kristi Tucker, Lesley Teeguarden, Michele Warner, Bill Abney III, and Cheryl Abney-Brotz; great-grandchildren, Scott Shurte, Brian Teeguarden, John Teeguarden, Shelbie Warner, Nicholas Warner, Garrett Abney-Booker, and Chole Abney-Brotz; brothers, Lloyd Jones, Herbert Jones, James Jones and Basil Jones; sisters, Ruby Clark and Edna Willis; nieces; nephews; and cousins. She was preceded in death by her son, Clifford Abney; parents; brother, Dick Jones; and sister, Bonnie Eden. The family would like to thank Reid Hospital, Arbor Trace Exceptional Senior Living, Dr. William Rheuble, and Centerville Fire and Rescue for taking excellent care of Geneva. Visitation for Geneva Abney will be from 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at Mills Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, Centerville. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at Mills Funeral Home with Dr. William David Rheuble officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
