Daughter of Maurice and Helen (Abbott) Hellwig.

A tennis player in her youth, she won the 1894 U.S. National Championships singles title defeating reigning champion Aline Terry. With Juliette Atkinson she won the 1894 and 1895 doubles title.

Wife of William Pouch (married 11/8/1897 in Kings County, NY)

Mother of Helene Pouch, who died at the age of 18 in 1919.

She was the President General of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution from 1941-1944. In 1947 she established the Helen Pouch Classroom Grant in memory of her daughter. An annually $500 grant is donated to two schools in each of the 50 states that submit the application and follow-up with reported results.
