Kochan, Louis B.

Louis B. Kochan, age 82, a Manitowoc resident, died Sunday morning, June 7, 2015 at St. Mary's Nursing Home, Manitowoc.

He was born on August 17, 1932 in Manitowoc, son of the late Anton and Lillian (Seidl) Kochan. Louis was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School. After an apprenticeship, he began his career as a Pattern Maker. He served two years in the United States Army. On August 16, 1958 he married the former Julie Dickens at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Louis was employed at Manitowoc Engineering for over 50 years, then at Scholten Pattern in Sheboygan and retired from Manitowoc Pattern. He was a Pattern Maker by trade, but an artist at heart. Woodcarving was his passion. He also enjoyed fishing, walking, riding his bike and reading about war history and nature magazines from Arizona. Louis was a lifelong member of Holy Innocents/St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo and was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years: Julie Kochan, Manitowoc; his children: Laurie Kochan, Milwaukee, Sharon (Mike) Dawn, Denver, NC, Paula (Mark) Radl, Manitowoc, Amy (Greg) Specht, Manitowoc, Daniel (Mary) Kochan, Douglasville, GA; two grandsons: Zachary and Ryan Specht; one step granddaughter: Amanda Radl; four step grandchildren; nine step great grandchildren; one sister: Dorothy Ames, Manitowoc; one brother: Clarence Kochan, Milwaukee; one brother-in-law: Donald Kautzer, Manitowoc; and a sister-in-law: Dottie Kochan, St. Louis, MO. He was preceded in death by a sister: Audrey Kautzer; a brother: Tony Kochan; a brother-in-law: Donald Ames; a sister-in-law: Edith Kochan; and a step granddaughter: Jessica Ashley.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 11, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo - 1121 North 14th Street, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. David Beaudry with burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, Manitowoc, from 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 11, 2015 until 10:45 a.m.
