She was born March 24, 1921, the daughter of the late John Samuel and Alvina Augustine (Lawrenz) Bitzan. Elda attended Alaska Grade School before graduating from Algoma High School in 1938. On November 21, 1940, she was united in marriage to Ernald Donald Anderson at Sherman Park Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. They celebrated 70 years of marriage in 2010. Elda and Ernald farmed in the town of Clay Banks until their retirement. She was a member of Tanum Forest Lutheran Church. Elda was a longtime employee and bookkeeper for the Bank of Sturgeon Bay, retiring in 1986 after 23 years.
She was a strong-minded woman who let you know what she thought. Elda was active in the Ladies Aid at Tanum Forest Lutheran Church. Together, she and her husband, Ernie, loved to go dancing. Elda enjoyed cooking, reading, and bowling on teams throughout her working career. She was a talented seamstress who made her own clothes in earlier years. She was welcomed Home by her parents; husband, Ernald; son, John (1969); two sisters and brothers in-law, Ethel (Earl) Glander, Eunice (Russell) Hanamann; and three brothers and sisters in-law, Earl (Vi) Bitzan, Edgar (Jean) Bitzan, and Elroy Bitzan.
