Edna June Hanamann, 100, formerly of Casco passed away on Monday, September 5, 2016 in a Waupaca hospital. She was born on June 28, 1916 to the late John and Alvina (Lawrenz) Bitzen [Bitzan]. She graduated from Algoma high in 1934. She enlisted in the US Marine Corps (1943-1945) leaving the service at the rank of Staff Sergeant. On September 8, 1951 she married Floyd Hanamann in Denver, CO. She farmed along with her husband and after 37 years of farming they retired and moved to the Dunbar area. Edna is survived by her husband, her children and their families, including grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother Emery (Judy) Bitzen; sister Eleanor Machut; sisters-in-law, Sylvia Bitzen and Ruth Kantz; brothers-in-law, Jim (Janice) Hanamann, Clarence Jerovetz; and many friends, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Susan Jane Hanamann; brothers, Earl (Vi) Bitzen, Elroy Bitzen, Edgar Bitzen; sisters, Ethel (Earl) Glander, Elda (Ernald) Anderson, and Eunice (Russell) Hanamann; brothers-in-law Melvin Machut, Stanley Meadke, and Melvin Kantz; and sister-in-law Jean Jerovetz. Funeral service held September 8, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Luxemburg, with Pastor Carl Brewer officiating. Burial in the church cemetery with full military rites. Wiesner & Massart Funeral Home assisted the family.
