Randy Howard was a semi famous singer, songwriter, publisher and producer. He has lived in Lynchburg, Tennessee where he died for the past twenty-five years. His newest collection, entitled A PAIR of KNEES was released on February 13, 2007, boasting a new genre, INSPIRATIONAL AMERICANA, Produced by Renowned Paul Hornsby and Randy Howard. As a writer, Randy's songs have been recorded by The Geezinslaw Brothers, Robin Lee and Hank Williams III. Hank's version of Randy Howard's "I DON'T KNOW" was a Top Forty Hit in Billboard, and was #1 for five weeks on the Texas Music Chart. Hank Williams III sang it during his debut performance on The Grand Ole Opry and received a standing ovation. Hank William III's CD "STRAIGHT TO HELL", features Randy Howard's song entitled "MY DRINKIN' PROBLEM" which Stephen King, as Pop of King, included in his Top 10 Music Picks A-List in Entertainment Weekly. AS a performing artist, Randy has shared the stage with Willie Nelson, Hank Williams, Jr., Waylon Jennings, Charlie Daniels, Greg Allman and many many others. Randy Howard has appeared on NASHVILLE NOW, ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT, featured on GOOD MORNING AMERICA and in USA TODAY. The Outlaw Country Singer was killed in a shootout with a bounty hunter at his Tennessee home. The sixty five year old musician was facing charges of fourth offense DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a gun while intoxicated and driving on a revoked license in Marion Country, Tennessee at the time of his death. He had failed to appear at a recent hearing, which resulted in a bench warrant. When a bounty hunter working for A-Plus Bail Bonding out of Dunlap, Tennessee showed up at his home in Lynchburg, the singer opened fire, according to investigators. The bounty hunter returned fire, killing the singer at the scene. The bounty hunter was also hit, but is expected to make a full recovery. The singer’s death has raised new questions about the rights of bounty hunters. While many states require bondsmen to be licensed, Tennessee doesn’t. In this case, the bounty hunter had a warrant, and he claims to have fired in self-defense, but the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation stated that Randy was in his own home, where he had the legal right to defend himself. His death is under investigastion.
