1935 was the midst of the Great Depression. The Lily Dale Assembly, struggling with bills like everywhere else, put out a special appeal to the members to pay their dues. Emily was the first person to respond and she was thanked in the special article in the Lily Dale newsletter.
Emily and her husband Phillip's daughter Julia grew up to be a Spiritualist Minister. Emily's daughter Julia married Alfred Larson who was the son of a nationally famous astrologer who lived in Lily Dale too.

Emily had a spiritualist funeral at Lily Dale.
