Ludvig Soren "Lewis" Christensen was born in Sonnerup, Sjaelland, Denmark to Rasmus Brus Christensen and Margrethe Nielsdatter.

Lewis immigrated with his parents and siblings in 1869, passing through Quebec, Canada, and originally settled in Pine Bluffs, Waushara County, Wisconsin. They moved to Big Flats, Adams County, Wisconsin about 1875. The children had the patrinome Rasmussen (or datter) while living in Denmark, but used the surname Christensen after coming to the United States. The two daughters of Rasmus Christensen that died in Denmark are identified by patrinome (Rasmusdatter).

Ludvig "Lewis" Christensen was still alive in 1954 on his 90th birthday, Bernice Elaine (Monsell) Busick, Oyler has a picture of him in front of the Methodist Parsonage.

At the age of 90, Lewis Christensen, a resident of the Plainfield vicinity for most of his life, died Wednesday at Riverview Hospital at Tomahawk. He has resided for the past year with his son-in-law and daughter, Rev. and Mrs. Wendell Bennett, at Tomahawk. Mr. Christensen suffered a stroke last Friday..

On Jan. 31, 1864, he was born in Sonnerup, Denmark, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Rasmus Christensen. He came with his parents to this country when he was five years old and the family made it's first home at Pine River, Wis. When he was ten years old, they moved to Big Flats (Adams County) and in 1915 settled on a farm near Plainfield. Mr. Christensen resided there until moving to Tomahawk last year. On September 18, 1893 he was married at Hancock to the former Lydia Rather, who preceeded him in death. A son, Darwin, who died in 1923; an infant son; two adopted sons, Alton and Zebbie, five sisters and two brothers also preceeded him in death. .

Survivors are two children, Roy Christensen, Wisconsin Rapids and Mrs. Bennett, and two grandchildren. Mr. Christensen was a member of the Day Lutheran Church at Big Flats. .

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Plainfield Methodist Church. Rev. Carl Weise of the Appleton Methodist church will officiate and burial will be made at the Danish Cemetery at Big Flats. Friends may call at Goult funeral home at Plainfield..
