From online research I found Thomas was the son of Richard Oates (1781-1855) and Martha Hardy, married 1807 in Bradford. Richard was the son of Richard Oates (born abt. 1756) and Sarah Stock (born abt. 1760), married 1777 in Halifax Parish Church.
