CHARLES FENNER died of fatal injuries from an auto accident that also included Abner Butterfield, John Bargfrede, and Mrs. Margaret White. The four were employees of the Fellows Gear Shaper Company who live in Chester and were going home from work in a Ford car driven by Mr. Fenner when the accident occurred at the end of Park Street. Mr. Fenner died some hours later from the injuries he received, as a result of the auto landing on top of his chest; but the other three were all able to report for duty at the Gear Shaper shop the next morning.

Charles was inducted on Aug. 14, 1918 at White River Junction. He served in WWI as Private First Class. His military summary includes: Org: Mech. Det., Tufts College, Medford, Mass., to Oct. 12, 1918 and service with 4th Company, Coast Artillery Company, Fort Banks Mortar Battery in Winthrop, Mass with discharge on Mar. 26, 1919.

Mr. Fenner was survived by his mother and by several brothers [Edward, Harry, Essex and a sister Jennie] residing in different places. The deceased was brought up by Dr. Walter L Havens, memorial # 57871228 [after the age of about twelve] where he had always made his home.
